MW2 Tombstone

Overall MW2 was a disappointment for me.

I thought single player war really fun, although the storyline was confusing. To many angles in the story, a thin plot and you didn’t play the same character all the time. It was fun to play, but the storyline was a mess. My favorite part was the Special Ops. More changeling gameplay and very fun to play with a friend.

My approach to the game was: First I completed the single player on Veteran, then Special Ops  on Veteran, and then I moved to Multiplayer. Played Multiplayer for a while, but it never got serious and I never got into it. And I bought the game for the Multiplayer part!

Shortly after I returned to Call of Duty 4. Hmm. I think COD 4 have a great fast paced gameplay without overdoing it. MW2 is too much. The pace is ridiculous, the kill streaks too awarding and playing in teams is just like… what teams! This is an one-man-army game and so boring after a couple of hours.

Still, I will probably in some time return to the game for the single player and the Special Ops. Played COD 4 single player shortly after, and that was great fun – once more. But also made it even more clear why I prefer COD 4. These days I’m playing Battlefield Bad Company 2. Never played Battlefield before and it’s very different from MW2. Time will show if it will last longer than MW2.

In Terminal I would recommend being 2 players, because I found I rather hard to play it solo. When you are 2 players, one can attract the enemies attention meanwhile the other flank and shot them from the side, from where the Riot Shields can’t protect them. There are a lot of counters you can take cover behind, so use them.

In the video tutorial below, there is a good example of how to flank the Riot Shields.

The last Special Ops mission in Delta is Estate Takedown. The trick is to keep all intruders away from your doorstep. Here are some tips to help you get the last 3 stars from the Delta missions.

Estate Takedown

Your task is to kill 40 enemies on the map Estate. There are a lot of snipers and several Juggernauts too. When a Juggernaut spawn you will get an aural warning by a sound like a big drum. The easiest way to take out a Juggernaut is by shooting him 4 times with your sniper rifle.

You start out in the boat house. Enemies and 1 Juggernaut will rush towards you from the house in front of you and several snipers will try to pick you from the right. Eliminate them and go to the house. In the basement you can refill and pick a different weapon, eg another sniper or assault with infrared sight.

Go inside the house and cover each entrance with a Claymore. From the windows take out all the enemies you can get. When you hear a Juggernaut is coming, go upstairs and wait for him. He will enter through the front door. Lay down a the top of the stairs and shoot him as soon as possible.

Essentially: Stay inside the house, cover all entrances and take the Juggernauts from upstairs. This strategic works for both one and two players.

Below is a good video tutorial showing how to get through the mission.

So you want them all? Don’t worry. I got them and so will you 😉

Kill 4 enemies with 4 shots during a slow-mo breach in Single Player or Special Ops

Knock-knock

It’s not hard to get this achievement. The trick is to ONLY shot once per enemy, even though there are plenty of time to give each enemy two shots. While you breach aim down the sight. Take the enemies down in a row from left to right (or the other way round if it works better), one at a time, no need to rush or panic, take the time to make a clean headshot. Practice some times to learn the enemies positions and find your own pace, and you will soon get the achievement.

If it still gives you trouble try watching the video tutorial below. It’s done with the first breach in the game on map The Only Easy Day…Was Yesterday.

Kill 10 enemies in a row using akimbo weapons in Single Player or Special Ops

Look Ma Two Hands

Akimbo weapons is when you are holding 2 identical weapons, one in each hand. This achievement is fairly easy. The straightforward way is picking a map where you will start with akimbo weapons. Like the Bravo mission Bomb Squad. You can see a video tutorial on that map below:

Another good map is Hornet’s Nest, especially if you also need the achievement Colonel Sanderson (kill 7 chickens in 10 seconds). There is a video tutorial from the Hornet’s Nets below:

Kill 4 enemies in a row while downed in Special Ops

Downed but Not Out

You need a friend to do this achievement. You can only be down if you have a friend to revive you. There is plenty of missions this achievement could be completed in, you just need a lot of enemies and a good spot where you are in cover for their fire.

I did it in the Charlie mission Homeland Security, almost the same way as shown in the video tutorial below. But it is hard to shot the targets in long-range with just a pistol. A little trick: Empty your secondary weapon completely for bullets before you go down. That way MW2 is forcing you to use your primary weapon. Empty your pistol while you are running to your spot. When you are ready and the enemies nearby, get your partner to knife and down you. Now kill 4 enemies with you primary weapon.

Kill 20 enemies in a row while driving a vehicle in Single Player or Special Ops

Drive By

There is 2 easy ways of getting this achievement:

  • Shot while driving the boat in Endgame in Single Player
  • Shot while driving the snow mobile in the Bravo mission Race in Special Ops

In both mission play it on Recruit difficulty and just concentrate on shooting people.

Here is an example of how it’s done in End Game:

If you wanna try it in Race there is this video tutorial:

The 3 Special Ops missions in Echo can be difficult to complete. Her are some tips that will make your way to the last 9 stars much easier.

WARNING: THESE TIPS CONTAINS HACKS/SPOILERS

Echo: Wetwork

I did not think Wetwork was that difficult, but it is one of the longer missions to complete solo. Like most of the missions I recommend to play it with a friend – it’s the most fun and it’s most efficient. If it gives you a hard time, watch this video tutorial:

Do you wanna complete the mission solo, you’ll have to work a little harder for it. I found several video tutorials on YouTube with different approaches to the mission. The one below is reasonable. Remember to cover your back with Claymores, when you pass stairs or doorways the enemy can use as a passage to you.

Echo: High Explosive

This mission is in my opinion the hardest of them all. Really tough. If you wanna do it fair and square and sprint around in Favela and shot down the Juggernauts, it would probably be an advantage being 2 players. When one shot the other one reload.

But in my opinion the best approach is playing solo and use the trick shown in the video tutorial below:

Echo: Armor Piercing

After completing High Explosive this mission is like a holiday 🙂

If you play solo stick to the Barrett Sniper Rifle. If you play with a friend, each of you take a sniper rifle. It is possible to complete this mission without any hints. But it is a hard nut to crack. The last 3 stars is on stake and you are not gonna get them cheap. If it seems impossible to make it, watch the video tutorial below.

It works both for solo and 2 players. After watching this video I completed the mission solo on the first try. Shot the Juggernauts from a safe distance. If they make it to the ladder, don’t panic, just shot them as their head pops up. They can’t shot you from the ladder.

Modern Warfare 2

Are you ready for some fun? Lets go!

Special Ops

Solo Play: One mission – one man.

Two Player Online: Invite a friend from Steam to join you in a Spec Ops mission.

Stars: Earn stars by completing Spec Ops missions.

Special Ops Tips

In Spec Ops you can play on 3 difficulty levels: Regular, Hardened and Veteran. If you are new to FPS games, I suggest you complete the singleplayer campaign before you move on to Special Ops.

All maps in Special Ops are also found in the singleplayer campaign. One more reason to complete the campaign first.

I found Two Player is most fun. If a mission gives you problems start out with Solo Play to get familiar with the map, enemies, positions etc. Also find a friend who already have completed the mission to help you through.

In a mission: Stick together! Cover each others back and communicate (if possible). When your partner is deadly wounded, you get 60 seconds to revive him. So don’t go too far or take too long to return to your wounded friend. Sometimes you have to clear the area before you can revive him.

You earn starts by completing the missions. 1 star per mission when playing on the level Regular, 2 stars on Hardened and 3 stars on Veteran. Completing all missions on Veteran gives you the maximum  of 69 stars.

I doesn’t matter if you earn the stars in Solo Play or Two Player. You just have to complete a mission once to get the stars.

If you get stuck in a mission you can follow the link MW2: Guide to Special Ops under Video in the sidebar. But the best help is still a friend online in Two Player.

On the website YouTube you can search for Modern Warfare 2 Special Ops videos, eg on how to kill Juggernauts.
